Meet your guide at your hotel or at a designated point. We will pick you up with one of our comfortable, air-conditioned 8-seats mini-vans and will take you to the First Lady's homeland. During the drive to reach the region you'll be able to sit back and enjoy the ride while we introduce you to the area.
The ride from Ljubljana will take about 60 minutes and we'll stop half way to Sevnica at the ZIDANICA - wine storage shed in the vineyard - to refresh ourself with typical local snacks, a glass of wine of course and a wonderful panoramic view on vineyards.
Sevnica pronounced [ˈseːu̯nitsa] - the quiet industrial town of 5,000 on the banks of the Sava River in central Slovenia was Melania's childhood home before she moved to the capital city of Ljubljana.
We'll start the tour by walking to the Old Town center, passing by the block where Melania Trump lived and stopping at the primary school that she attended. Then, we'll head to the Castle and its art gallery, visit one of the 47 churches in the municipality. In the middle of the Sevnica tour we'll take a well deserved break at the Julija's Bakery to experience first hand what a White House-themed cake tastes like. Melania Cake - a silky white chocolate mousse with nuts, lying on top of a crust made with a buttery nut base. And, best of all, edible gold.
After a hefty portion of golden cake beauty we'll head to the nearby Mount Lisca, at 947m above sea level. This is a wonderful viewpoint, and its wind thermals attract numerous paragliders and hang-gliders.
We'll take a ride up the Mount which offers a superb view over the whole valley and surrounding hills. When the weather is clear, you can even see as far as the Julian Alps with the highest peak in the country, Mount Triglav.
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the First Lady's hometown from the top and take home some unforgetable stories and photos.
Tired after the mount adventure we head to a family vineyard cottage estate (zidanica) where they will be expecting us with a local lunch prepared for us. Lunch will be accompanied by guided wine tastings (dolenjsko red, blue portugal, blue franconian, cviček, semi-dry Kerner), wines that are typical of the area.
If you ask me Otočec Castle is simply the most beautiful castle in Slovenia. You have to love this castle because it is not as crowded as for instance Bled and Predjama Castles and it offers so many photo opportunities.
Romance and fairy-tales are words that come to mind when you see a wooden bridge, the broad expanse of the blue River Krka bustling with swans and ducks, mighty trees, and an island surmounted by a Gothic and Renaissance building. Otočec Castle is the only island castle in Slovenia, and is surrounded by a 200-year old park filled with indigenous and exotic tree species.
We'll return home with full bellies, a happy heart and great memories, just in time for dinner. After a wonderful day of sightseeing, you will be dropped off at your hotel or at your pick up point.
